Hi, I’m Dr. Samantha Ess

(formerly Dr. B)

Addressing preconception, fertility, and women’s health issues with naturopathic medicine is a passion of mine. But before I dive further into that, here is a little bit about me.

My journey to becoming a naturopathic doctor began when I was 3 years old so in order to save some time, I will give you the cliff notes version. I was a sick child and nothing seemed to help until naturopathic medicine came into my life. I went from twice per day breathing treatments to playing 4 sports in high school without even using an inhaler. This was a pretty dramatic turnaround from what my life could have been like, so it became the start of discovering my passion for naturopathic medicine.

Now, you might ask, "why women’s health and fertility?". Put simply, they are passions of mine; both are complex and I can treat them separately or together. I have had my own women’s health issues and I know how frustrating it can be to either be told there is nothing wrong or to simply be given a birth control pill to put a band-aid on the issue. In addition, it brings me so much joy and happiness to help families have healthy babies.

My journey down this road has been long and full of challenges, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. After 8 years of schooling, I have obtained a bachelor’s of science degree in Exercise Science from NAU and my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University. I am a licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor who is a member of The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and has completed a year long fertility mentorship with Dr. Chasse. In addition, I have attended several conferences/courses that have expanded my scope pertaining to women’s health, sexual dysfunction, and fertility. These include but are not limited to the ISSWSH Annual Meeting 2021, NPWH/ISSWSH Conference: Essential of Female Sexual Health, Special Topics In Women's Health Virtual Seminar, Menopause Bootcamp with the Institute of Women’s Health & Integrative Medicine, and Integrative Fertility Methods with Dr. Chasse. I am an author of 2 books, The Ultimate Guide to Preconception Care and The Ultimate Guide to Healthy Hormones. I have created a fertility planner and am on the medical board for the company August, as well as a guest speaker for the online collective Bija and Bastyr University.

My work with patients is my greatest passion in life and I hope to illuminate that through our visits. My goal is to make sure each one of my patients is truly heard so that we can create an individualized treatment plan based on their needs. Whether you are a woman seeking assistance to help regulate her menstrual cycle, or a couple looking for fertility care, I look forward to getting to know you and being a part of your healing journey!
